The Way Home

Today is my anniversary. Six years ago today, I began the most wonderful journey of my life. The journey that brought me home.
It was a Sunday and my number 4 daughter was getting ready for her trip home after spending the weekend with us. We were discussing my 19 year old grand daughter moving back to Arizona with her boyfriend. As we talked it came up that Brad was a Wiccan. Well having grown up in the Christian world that immediately set the red flag to waving so as soon as my daughter left I sat down at my computer and typed "Wicca" into google and hit search. That was about 7:00 in the evening and at 1:00 am I had to make myself turn off the computer and go to bed because I had to be back up at 4:00 am to start our morning chores.
What I learned that night amazed me. For the first time in all of my 63 years, I knew who I was and were I belonged. Although the relationship between my grand daughter and Brad didn't last, he will always have a special place in my heart, for if not for him I would still be looking for that one thing that would make my world right and give me peace. 

Since then there have been very few days I have not read about, or studied this beautiful path I now walk, and not one day passes that I don't think about the Goddess and what Her blessings mean to me. My path has taken me around the world through the people I have met. It has changed me from a bitter, unhappy old woman into someone who sees the world through different eyes and taught me how to love unconditionally. It was a life changing experience and I thank the Goddess every day for not giving up on me and finally finding a way to get through my thick, hard head to show me what I have been missing all my life. Thank you my Lady, for showing me the way home.

Chetan Lutah ~ Red-tailed Hawk

I had the most wonderful walk today. First of all the weather is beautiful, cool enough for a light jacket, but the sun was warm and felt wonderful on my skin. Then the last half mile I looked up in time to see, not one, not two, but three red tailed hawks gliding over head. I watched them until they circled out of sight then the last quarter mile one of them came back and started hunting the thicket next to the road I was on. She swooped and soared and dived...it was so beautiful. At one point she flew so close over my head I felt I could almost reach up and touch her. What beautiful birds they are and I feel so privileged to have been an audience to their beautiful sky dance. 

Here is one of my favorite songs, and yep...you guessed it, I had it playing on my mp3 player as I watched their beautiful ballet. Arvel has really captured their grace in this song, their flight was in perfect time with the music.

Had a nice walk yesterday, saw a flock of Sandhill Cranes flying over being followed by a dozen noisy crows.  Came up on a small herd of cattle who were courteous  enough to step off the path and let me pass, although the little bull had me worried until he decided I wasn't worth the effort.
The sky was clear and the air was clean, so all and all it was a wonderful day.  

Then this morning arrived...the wind picked up during night and today the air is full of dust and sand.  Have a feeling my walk won't be as pleasant as yesterdays, but who knows maybe I'll see the small herd of black tail deer that hide in the mesquite thicket near our house or my beloved hawk will fly over with her mate.  Every walk is a new experience and joy can be found everywhere if you take the time to look for it.

Dentures and Celiac

If you have Celiac disease there is also a good chance you also have dentures.   I have had dentures for over 20 years and up until lately it never entered my mind to check on the gluten content of the denture adhesive I was using.  I wrote to both Fixodent and Poligrip on this subject and these are the responses I got.


Hope this will ease the minds of anyone who is dealing with this problem.  It has certainly helped me.

Letting Go of the Past, & Embracing New Beginnings

Happy New Year to all my Pagan friends. I had a wonderful Samhain, honored my ancestors, and took the first step in closing the door on the past and opening the door to new beginnings.

If the path your life is on is not where you want to be, let go.  Hanging on to old hurts doesn't change or erase them, only letting go and moving on can bring you peace.

My new affirmation mantra:  "Today I'm letting go of the past and embracing the future".

The days are getting shorter and the shadows longer.  

I like fall...

I'm even looking forward to winter and cooler temps. 

Things change with age. 

 What I used to like no longer matters and things I hated I now enjoy.

It's all part of this learning process we call life.
